As the new year begins, we’d like to feature a look at significant work from last year: an ANEW project with Mazda North American Operations in Irvine, CA. Due to a relocation, Mazda had a large amount of surplus furniture and equipment. They engaged ANEW and our program of Surplus Stewardship® to steward their surplus away from landfill, straight to community organizations. The results are impressive:
Social Responsibility: 135,272 pounds diverted from landfill through repurposing.
Environmental Responsibility: 105,400 pounds diverted from landfill through recycling.
Total surplus stewarded: 240,673 pounds, 120.34 tons
1277 items were stewarded to local agencies. These items will greatly help the agencies continue their good work in the community. Our heartfelt thanks to our project partners at Mazda, and recipient organizations Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo and Goodwill Southern California!
