On Monday morning, December 16th we launch our Community Partnership Project with WIJABA and USGBC-LA : the construction of 15 libraries in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico.
Guests at the launch will see a 53′ tractor-trailer backing up to the ANEW warehouse dock to load repurposed bookcases, desks, chairs and other furniture as well as new carpeting for transport to Mexico. Entertainment will be provided by the Mariachi Divas; Guatemalan coffee grown by small, sustainable producers and yummy pastries are courtesy of Kishe.
The equipment will be housed in library #6, located in an area beset by poverty and drug war violence. This project empowers children and their communities to change their own lives and the world at large. It promotes literacy and education by developing libraries and programs that plant the seeds of leadership, environmental consciousness, and community connection. It is our privilege to work with Community Partners WIJABA and USGBC-LA and be a part of it!
