Our colleagues at HOK welcome Stan Chiu, AIA, LEED AP, as senior vice president and management principal to HOK Los Angeles.
Chiu will join management committee members Ernest Cirangle, AIA, LEED AP, design principal; David Hollister, AIA, LEED AP BD, technical principal; Elaine Kanelos, LEED GA, marketing principal; and Alicia Wachtel, LEED GA, healthcare director.
Chiu has more than 20 years of experience in the architectural profession. Prior to joining HOK, he was the leader of RTKL’s Los Angeles office and director of the healthcare group. He has also been a leader in significant higher education projects in Southern California. Chiu has held key roles in the design of award-winning projects including the Samsung Global Health Initiative in Seoul, Korea; the Mayo Clinic Gonda Building in Rochester, Minn.; Sutter Health’s hospital prototype in Calif.; the Oregon Health and Science University Peter O. Kohler Pavilion in Portland, Ore.; and the California Prison Receivership Hospital Prototype in Sacramento. He is a leader in applying lean design principles to project design and management. He has written and lectured extensively on lean project delivery for the AIA, Lean Construction Institute and several other organizations. Chiu earned a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn.
